Tanker Impro with AKA

Twee keer per maand worden er in de Tanker impro-concerten georganiseerd. Bekende musici uit Amsterdam ontmoeten internationale gasten en spelen een totaal geïmproviseerd concert. Dit Levert vaak zeer bijzondere muziek op.

AKA ontwikkeld een persoonlijk muzikaal onderzoek gebaseerd op herhaling, polyfonie en de verkenning van timbric en ritmische evenwicht binnen het kwartet. Deze concepten samen met een eenzijdige focus op geluid van de band gefilterd met muziek van Aka Pygmies lijdt tot een compositie in vrije improvisatie, gevormd door vrij geschreven materiaal.

Het project begon in september 2017 op het Siena Jazz accademy. Hier hadden zij hun eerste publieke show op het Jazz supreme festival in Florence en hebben daarna gespeeld in en rondom Italië en Europa. Journalist Neri Pollastri schreef over hun: “The band proposed three excellent tunes with dark, suspended and tormented atmospheres, well interpreted by young musicians we’ll certainly hear about in the next future.”. AKA’s eerste record is geproduceerd en opgenomen door Dan Kinzelman. Deze zal uitgebracht worden door Auand label op 1 februari 2019

AKA carries on a personal research through repetitions, polyphony and
the exploration of timbric and rhythmic balances within the quartet.
Such an idea, merged with a particular focus on the sound
of the band and filtered by suggestions of Aka Pygmies music, leads to
compositions in which free improvisation is shaped by the written material.
This project, born in September 2017 in Siena Jazz academy, made its
first public appearence within A Jazz Supreme festival in Florence, and has been playing around Italy and Europe. Journalist Neri

AKA’s first record, produced, recorded and mixed by Dan Kinzelman, will
